Make Extra Money On The Side

It has been a long time since I have update this page so I thought I would let you in on what I have been doing lately.  I have really cut back on some of my gaming time to work on more productive endeavors.  I am hoping that I can be a little more useful with my online presence.  Here are a few things I have been working on.

Retail Arbitrage and selling online.

I had a pretty successful beginning with this.  I started out with my initial investment of $40 and had over $300 in sales my first month.  You can learn about my journey and lessons I learned here.

Thrifting and selling on eBay.

Thought this has been a little slower to get going, I am still turning some profit.  You can learn about what I have learned through this process here.

More blogging

I started out a site dedicated to the side hustle.  Creating extra income on the side is my new hobby I guess you could say.  On the blog, you can see what I have tried, what I have researched and what seem to be worth your time as a side hustle.  My motto is to Win By Doing.  Taking that first step to success is the toughest yet most important.  Stop by and check it out at

Well, as you can see, I have been busy.  Still drop in from time to time on either blog.  We will try to post more here.  If you would like to present content that would fit this site, please drop us a line.  Would love our content readers to grow.  We really don’t want to stop but with our busy lives, our priorities change.

Minecraft Elevator

I have added one of these in some fashion to every world I have started.  It is a simple build though doing in survival can add a new element of challenge.  It makes a simple and quick way to go up and down different levels in your world. ….. much faster than ladders.  I have used them to enter a high rise structure as well as moving from top to my strip mines.

If you find the video useful, please subscribe and hit me up with a like.  I will continue to work on more videos.

Twitch Streaming Month 4

Well, just wrapped up month 4 of streaming.  here are the numbers to show successes month over month.  I do still enjoy it.  I do however find myself tiring over the drama of Minecraft.  I still find the game intriguing.  I enjoy all aspects of the game and how each day I find new cool things to do in it.  The prospect of learning to automate things within the game is very interesting to me.  I have found that having a good stable group of folks to play with makes it less stressful.  Yes, I said it stressful.  On some days it almost feels like I am babysitting when new folks jump in the game and I have to monitor that they do not screw with the long time residents of Dartopia. Ha.  Yes, the woes of ruling a Minecraft world.

I had to take a week off from streaming to work with our business.  I believe that hurt my growth.  Goes to prove you can’t grow followers by not streaming.  I know, right Captain Obvious?  here are my numbers.  I post these because I can’t seem to find anywhere to compare so thought I would put mine out there for comparison.

Twitch Streaming Month 3

This month I am starting with numbers first.  A month ago, I sat at 44 followers and 768 views with 256 hours of streaming.  I am still enjoying it.  I have found a special part in that tiny heart of mine for Minecraft.  Now, I have increased that 44 followers to 86, the 768 views to 919 and the 256 hours to 379.  I really does seem there is not definite formula for gaining followers.

I have still been streaming mainly Minecraft.  I would say that some titles I give my streams get more views. It could be coincidence.  I have met a lot of good people through the chats but also get the occasional trolls.  Annoying as they can be, I don’t get into arguments with them.  Occasionally I will time them out in the chat if they get too out of hand.  Mostly I just welcome them in.  I thank them for joining my chat and let them know it is my way of helping the rest of the twitch community by keeping them off their chat.

My schedule has been a bit erratic the last couple weeks.  From having friends come into town, my job being crazy busy, needs of our business as well as family things that have come up, it has been a crazy couple weeks.  I thank all of you that read this and follow my stream for your patience with that.  I wish this could be a job that could support me but as it is not, the things that do pay have to take priority.

As in prior streaming posts, here are things that I have learned in the past month.

1. Playing Minecraft has taught me that you really need to be careful who you can trust.  I had to ban a couple folks that had been in ‘Dartopia’ for some time because they were caught griefing and stealing.

2. Don’t go exploring without a map and compass –  Thanks Master and Optic

3. Politely tell squeakers not to take offense if you leave the party and start and ‘adult’ party.  Yes, I do have the DartNtheHead ‘kiddie’ table just like Christmas’s at grandmas.

4. Monitor your stream.  XBONE Kinnect has been doing random ZOOM shots.  Only once was it my crotch.  Luckily I did not have any viewers at that time.  I do constantly have to readjust when it zooms in on my chin or forehead.

Minecraft…Colosseum Build Part One

So, I have been playing and streaming Minecraft for about 6 weeks now.  Yes, I am in my 40’s (I assure you I am not the only middle-aged person playing the game).  For whatever reason, have found enjoyment in the game.  I find the challenge of creating something out of square blocks.

Here is my first project in creative mode.  I am hoping to use my version of the Roman Colosseum as the site for build-offs in future streams.  I am hoping that this shows that Minecraft isn’t child’s play only!! 🙂

Leaving Our Digital Footprint

Well, here we are.  We started this blog in January.  At that time, there were only 2 Average Dudes.  Teatherwind and I started down this path not sure where it would take us.  We have added Ashe_SDMF and Fungamungalo into the fold.  We have expanded to Facebook.  We have all begun streaming on Twitch occasionally.  I for one have become addicted to that one.  I have even started to slowly integrate my Twitter account into this footprint we have created.  Now we are just trying to nurture this baby and see how far it will grow.  I for one am enjoying the hell out of it and cant wait to see what we may have in store.  Thanks to you all that stop by and check out the site.  Thanks to the Twitch and Twitter followers.  Thank you all to the ones liking us on Facebook.  We do appreciate it.
